White marks on my new kayak or aquapark item? Will they go away?

So you’ve unboxed your brand new Aquaglide product and you are seeing some white marks on the material. What are those marks, and how might they impact your new product? Light marks from initial folding are a phenomenon known as “marbling,” and are a frequent occurrence on reinforced PVC materials that have been tightly folded and packaged after production.

Although marbling happens on all colors of reinforced PVC, it is typically more noticeable on darker colors. Rest assured that marbling poses absolutely no threat to the structural integrity of your product and typically disappears after one or two uses.

The process of inflating and deflating your product will naturally eliminate marbling relatively quickly. We encourage users to allow the process to happen naturally, however, we understand that some users may want to accelerate the process. In this case, careful application of heat will relax these marks away.

  •          Inflate the product
  •          Use a heat gun on low to slowly heat up the affected areas and relax the material
  •          While heating, frequently brush the palm of your hand across the heated area, making sure that it does not get too hot to touch, because this could damage the material
  •          As the material relaxes, you will see the white marks slowly disappear

Because a heat gun can overheat and damage the product, we strongly recommend letting marbling fade naturally over a day or two. We hope this reassures you about those unusual white marks. Aquaglide products are covered by robust warranty terms that will remain in place long after the marks have disappeared.

Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions at all about marbling.
