Butt-Seam Repair (For Leaks At or Near a Seam)

Issue: Leaks located directly on, or immediately adjacent to, a seam are difficult to seal with a standard patch and require a two-patch repair.

Step 1: Apply the Butt-Seam Patch

  1. Completely deflate the product.
  2. Following the standard surface preparation and gluing procedure, applyPatch #1 tightly along the seam.
  3. Position the patch so it extends at least1 inch (2.5 cm) beyond the leaking area in all accessible directions.

Step 2: Apply the Cover Patch

  1. Prepare and gluePatch #2 using the same technique.
  2. Center Patch #2 directly over Patch #1 and the seam area.
  3. Ensure Patch #2 extends at least1 inch (2.5 cm) beyond the seam and the edges of Patch #1.

Step 3: Cure

Allow the repair to cure for12–24 hours before inflating and testing for leaks.
